Safety Tips – Bike Riding Safety Tips
Wear protective gear when riding your motorcycle. Crash helmets should be worn by both the motorcyclist and his passager. Wearing protective clothing protects you from injury if you fall as well as from the harsh elements. Protect your hands with good quality gloves and your feet with strong waterproof boots.
Make sure you wear brightly coloured clothes so that you can be clearly seen. Keep your headlights on while riding even during the day. Before you overtake, flash your headlights to indicate to the driver in front of you that you intend to overtake. Avoid overtaking on the inside of the lane, the driver of the vehicle in front of you may not see you and pull over to the kerb or turn in front of you.
When riding as a group, one motorcyclist in the front should take up the best position on the road. The motorcyclists behind him should be staggered to the right and to the left. This will allow them to see properly and allow them enough braking space. In dry weather the following distance for motorcyclist is 2 meters. In wet weather the following distance should be doubled.

Safety Tips – Swim Safety Lessons
Research has shown that a high number of drownings occur among people between the ages of 15 and 35 years of age, who are ironically the strongest swimmers. The reason for this is that in most cases these people have simply ignored swimming safety rules. Here are a few swimming safety rules to ensure you are safe while swimming.
Never go swimming on an empty stomach or immediately after a heavy meal. This can cause painful cramps. Allow yourself at least an hour before getting into the water. Test the water before you get in. If the water is too cold, it can be a shock to your system which can result cramps.
When swimming in the sea, avoid swimming alone. Swimming in a group provides you with help and support if you get into trouble. Avoid swimming in flooded quarries or water filled sand pits. These can be dangerous as they often have deep shelving sides that are almost impossible to climb out of.
Never dive into water unless you have mastered the skill of diving. Incorrect diving techiques can result in fatal consequences. Never take a dive unless the depth of the water is at least three meters and is free from underwater obstacles. When swimming in the sea always be aware of underwater hazards such as rocks and weeds. Swim between the safe swimming areas. Most beaches have flags and markers to denote safe swimming areas.
