Biography: Born to legendary writer Salim Khan (Sholay, Deewaar, Don) and Salma Khan in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Salma is Salman’s mother by birth, Helen Richardson, former actress, is his step mother. He has two brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, and two sisters Alvira and Arpita. He studied in Scindia School, Gwalior and then studied in St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra, Mumbai along with his brothers. He later dropped out of St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He studied acting at popular actress Daisy Irani’s acting institute along with his friends Sajid Khan and Chunky Pandey.
Salman started his acting career as a supporting role in Biwi Ho To Aisi, 1988 and the following year he debut as the lead sctor in the Maine Pyar Kiya which was a box office hit.From there he gave back to back hits Saajan (1991), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
In 1998, he was arrested from the shooting location of the film Hum Saath-Saath Hain(1999), for killing protected wild animals and spent about a week behind the bars. In September 2002, Salman Khan had hit the headlines after he crashed his Land Cruiser near the American Express bakery in Bandra, killing one man and injuring others. In 2003, he gave another box office hit, Tere Naam. Salman is the only actor in Bollywood to have his 7 films earn more than Rs 100 crores in a row.
He launched Being Human, in 2007, a charitable organization that aids the underprivileged in areas such as education and health-care. In its early days, Salman Khan set up and funded the Foundation using his own money. He frequently gives bicycles to the kids and clothes for the needy.
