Kurseong is the pronunciation in the local dialect of English, Kharsang. It implies the white orchid territory. Kurseong City is currently split into 20 wards. Even neighboring learners like Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong come here.

Once in St. Marys Hill there was a Rangers College, but it’s not working at the moment. At Dowhill there is a forest school offering training to bid officers and other practical training linked to agriculture.
