Kurseong is the pronunciation in the local dialect of English, Kharsang. It implies the white orchid territory. Kurseong City is currently split into 20 wards. It is a town between Darjeeling and the town of Siliguri. It requires just over an hour to get to Darjeeling and it takes about the same time to get down from Kurseong to Siliguri. Even neighboring learners like Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Hong Kong come here.

Once in St. Marys Hill there was a Rangers College, but it’s not working at the moment. At Dowhill there is a forest school offering training to bid officers and other practical training linked to agriculture.
