Biography of Major Mohit Sharma – Upcoming Bollywood Biopic Movies Iftikhar. Major Mohit Sharma, AC, SM was an Indian Army Officer. Even after his death he was awarded by the Ashoka Chakra. He was born on 13th January 1978 at Rohtak, Haryana. He was the second child of his parents. His father was Mr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma and mother Mrs. Sushila Sharma.
He was fond of Michael Jackson. He had keen interest in music field. He used to play guitar very well along with mouth organ and synthesizer. He always wanted to try new instruments and take it as a challenge to be perfect in that. He had such a melodious voice that he always became successful to attract the listeners towards him.

Major Sharma started his schooling from Manav Sthali School, South Extension Delhi. He took admission in Holy Angel’s School, in Sahinad after leaving previous school. Later on, he went to DPS Ghazibad in the year 1995. He got good percentage in +2 exams as he was good at studies. His parents decided to get admission in Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon, Maharastha. But he always had a passion to join the forces despite of taking admission in the engineering college. He was so determined that he left engineering and joined the prestigious NDA (National Defence Academy) in the year 1995.
Major Sharma was from the elite 1st Para SF 2. He joined the Indian army in the year 1999 and continued his service till 2009. He was the Major by rank and his service number was IC-59066.
He married Rishima Sharma.
In his NDA tenure, he was a member of the India Squadron. He was outstanding in various fields and became one of the best cadets. He was a champion in horse riding and was trained by Col.Bhawani Singh. He had a favourite horse and named it as “Indira”. Along with that he was also a boxing champion in the featherweight category and the best swimmer as well. He always wanted to be excellence in IMA, where he was awarded as an appointment for the rank of BCA (Battalion Cadet Adjutant). He was among those chosen ones who got an opportunity to meet Shri K.R Narayanan as well as the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
He passed out from IMA on 11 the December 1999 and got commissioned in 5 Madras. His first posting was at Hyderabad from where he went on to serve the country with 38 RR (Rashtriya Rifles) in Kashmir. He became the part of counter insurgency operation where he received his first medal for Gallantry COASM (Chief of Army Staff Commendation Medal) in the year 2002.
He always wanted to be a para commando, thus he joined 1 PARA(SF) the elite force of the the Indian Army in June 2003. He served in Kashmir with 1 PARA( SF) where he was awarded by Sena Medal (Gallantry) in the year 2004. He also served as an instructor at the Commando Wing Belgaum for 2 years from January 2005 to December 2006.
On 21 March, Maj Mohit Shrama’s unit was deployed in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was engaged in operations against the terrorists on a frequent basis in Haphruda forest. The security forces decided to launch a research and destroy operation. He planned and led his commandos in tracking the terrorists. By observing suspicious movement he alerted his team. Suddenly terrorists started firing at the troops from three directions indefinitely. Four Commandos got injured.
Maj Sharma, without caring of his own safety, he helped his two teammates to rescue and killed four terrorists. After getting a multiple gunshots, he himself got injured and ultimately sacrificed himself for the motherland . For this act, he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, the nation’s highest peace time gallantry award.
“Do not let anyone escape, take them all out”, were his last words to his commandos.
