Parents murdered their own daughters due to superstitious beliefs in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Valleru Purushottam Naidu and Padmaja were the parents of two daughters who were murdered.
Andhra Pradesh police suspect that the murdered was done due to some occult practices.
Two sisters, Alekhya, 27 years old and Sai Divya who was 23 years old were killed with a dumbell at their own home on Sunday night. They were resident of Madanapalle in Chittor district. When police asked the reason of killing the two daughters, the parents said that they could regain their life.

Sai Divya was studying music at an institute in Chennai. While Alekhya used to work at the Indian Institute of Forest Management in Bhopal. But for the preparations of the civil examinations, she had quit the job lately.
Mr Valleru Purushottam and Padmaja are both highly educated people. Mr Naidu is a professor of chemistry and also the vice-principal at the Girl’s Government Degree College in Madanapalle. Whereas Padmaja was a gold medalist and a postgraduate in mathematics. She was also working at an IIT coaching institute, Deputy Superintendent of Police Manohar Achari said to the news channel.
The Police Officer stated that the couples were even doing some rituals before killing their daughters as the two sisters were dressed in a red saree.
Neighbours claimed that the couple asked their daughters to go around their house for a ritual. The parents believed that their children were possessed by an evil spirit. They even said that “unseen forces” had ordered them to kill their daughters.
Deputy Superintendent of Police A Ravi Manihar Achari claimed the news channel that parents seemed to be disturbed and stressed. The parents are now in the police custody and action will only be taken after knowing that whether they need any psychological disorder treatment or not.
