Farmers destroys cauliflower crop as they were getting only 75 paisa per kg. In Amritsar, Punjab, a farmer was compelled to plough his entire produce of cauliflower and to sell for only 75 paisa per kilogram at sabji mandi and wholesale market.
According to a report given by the The Times of India, the routes to Delhi was blocked. Prices of vegetables has dropped down in Amritsar and other nearby districts. Farmers were forced to plough their standing crops and sell in Minimum Support Price(MSP).
Ajit, a farmer, said to Times of India that he had spent almost Rs 30,000- 40,000 in the production of cauliflower. He was even hoping that he’ll make a profit of more than Rs 1 lakh. Last year he was given Rs. 11 to Rs 14 per kg cauliflower but this time he is not even getting Rs 1 per kg in the wholesale market. He thought that by harvesting and taking the crops to the wholesale market is not giving him any profit, so he decided to plough and destroy it all.
Similarly there are others farmers who destroyed their crops.

Omprakash Yadav of Muktapur village, Samastipur district in Bihar destroyed cauliflower field which was ready to harvest. He said that he has ploughed around 3.5 acres in two days and there is still 1.5 acres remaining. He even said that he had never expected to see such days. Now he is knowing the place of farmers in the country.
In April, a farmer in Bangalore left the musk melon to rot in fields as he couldn’t transport it to the market.
Another farmer from Karnataka dumped 15 tonnes of tomatoes on a dry tank bed as he was unable to supply it to the market.
Again, one farmer let cattle graze on his one acre cabbage crop that was ready for harvesting.
The conditions of our farmers are becoming worst day by day. It really feels bad to see all these things happening in our country. We must think about it wisely because we can only get to eat if farmers cultivate. If these goes on, one day we’ll die of hunger and we might have to leave our job and start doing farming.
