Man asked for a divorce from his wife who was menstruating on wedding day. While women and activists across the world are fighting for the breakage of taboo around menstruation, a well qualified man seeked for a divorce from his wife for not revealing about the truth of her menstruation on the day of their wedding.

Inspite of living in the big city, the man claimed that he and his mother were shocked, when his wife revealed the truth about having menstruation on the marriage day. In this divorce petition, the man wrote that his wife told him about her menstrual conditions before they went to a temple for prayer after completing their wedding ceremony.

They both got married in the last year of January. According to him, he works in a private company while his wife is a school teacher. The man professed that after the wedding, his wife didn’t allow to spend money for the monthly expenses of the house as his elder brother was spending for that. She even insist for an air conditioner and to give her Rs 5,000 monthly. When he said to her that he cannot afford to install an AC in their house, she had an argument with him regarding this matter and went to live at her parents house, the petitioner claimed.

Even after bringing her back to her husband house, she frequently kept on going to her parents house and stayed there for several days.

During this lockdown, he was taking a walk on the terrace of his house at the mean time his wife came asking for the money. As he hasn’t receive the salary he just told her, he can’t give her money right away. She was mad and said him she would have slept with other men on their first night as she knew thar he could not afford to give her a luxurious life. She even threatened him by saying that she’ll commit suicide by jumping off the terrace.

The man has claimed that he was forced to file for divorce. After moving to her parents home in May, she gave false complaints against him and his family at Bapod Police Station.

“The petition has been registered at the family court and the court will take it up for hearing “, said his lawyer.
